PSA: Rompers can be worn for at least another month! I keep seeing fashion bloggers posting about how it’s the end of summer, but weather-wise, summer’s sticking around till late September. For me, both school and college always started in September, so August has never bogged me down about signifying summer’s end. My summer wardrobe is still kickin’ and that’s why I’m still wearing things like this itty bitty romper around town. It’s black and white so it’s versatile, yet it’s patterned, which adds interest. It also has pockets, thank god, which is always a blessing for women’s clothes. You can purchase this exact romper on H&M’s website and in stores!

Sky was the emblem of my teenage days; anyone who knew me well in high school knows how much I adored Sky for her music, her attitude, and of course, her style.  Sky definitely inspired my gradual shift from preppy/girly to edgy/grunge.  Her tough, raw, look of combat boots and graphic jackets and sweaters balanced with perfect eyeliner and lipstick created a whole new set of style and beauty goals for me.  Sky’s style, like anyone’s, changed as she rebranded her music – her old music is poppier, her hair long and bouncy, while her newer sound is more alt as she rocked a bleached chop. Both looks are iconic, however, and throughout time, Sky can still be found rocking Jeremy Scott and MAC’s Russian Red – as can I.

For this look, I channeled Sky by rocking second-day tousled hair with black top and bottom liner. Sky is often photographed wearing loose blouses with more tight fitting shorts or skirts and loves to make her socks part of the outfit. Are you a fan of Sky? What’s your favorite song or campaign of hers? Feel free to start a discussion in the comments.
