Hey, everyone! Last night, I was in the South Loop at the launch celebration for Clinique’s new 2-in-1 concealer and foundation called Beyond Perfecting, so today’s blog post is going to be a 2-in-1 event recap and beauty review. This was an amazing experience, considering I knew little about Clinique’s history and identity within the global market going into this event.
The event started with a presentation about Clinique’s founding. The brand was founded in 1968 by a dermatologist and a beauty editor from Vogue. Together, they developed makeup designed to nourish skin as well as add to it. Their newest product, Beyond Perfecting, does just that!

Beyond Perfecting comes in 20 different shades, with 3 new shades currently in development. The applicator brush is HUGE, and it is designed to give you the most coverage using the least amount of product (think, “less is more”). The finish is semi-matte. Everyone at the event was officially shade-matched by the Clinique professionals. My shade is called Alabaster. After I went home, I checked out Alabaster and the other shades online, only to find that Alabaster is listed under “very fair” -_- I’m so pale haha
This morning, I received an email from Maggie, the PR and Global Communications Manager for Clinique, and it turns out Clinique will be sending me Alabaster in the mail next week! I can’t wait till it arrives, so I can feature it in upcoming posts. In the meantime, I decided to test the products from the lovely gift bag I received.
My gift bag contained a total of three items; none of which I’ve had much experience with. This morning, therefore, was a blast, because experimenting with makeup is one of my favorite things to do.
The first item was REALLY foreign to me; I’m familiar with mascara and lip chubbies (which are the other two items), but I had had no experience with facial moisturizer.
Since I had never used any sort of moisturizing product on my face until today, I had no idea what was going to be inside this jar. This stuff is a peachy pink color, and has a consistency that somewhat resembles that of vaseline. I remembered the mantra from last night about Beyond Perfecting, “less is more,” and decided it was probably best to start applying smaller amounts. I put a small amount on my index finger and spread it on my entire face. At first, my face felt really dewey, but after letting it soak in for a minute, I felt much more refreshed and awake, which was handy considering I had class at 9:00 am this morning! I’m definitely going to be using this to help me feel less groggy and more ready to take on the world.
The next item was a mascara. I’ve never been a mascara person, since I think it makes my eyelashes look like daddy long legs (why would I want my eyelashes to resemble spiders?). I swiped a few coats on, but stopped after I saw my eyelashes getting clumpy and also spider-y. Not really my cup of tea.
The next item was a lip chubby. I’ve heard great things about chubby sticks in general, so I was really excited to try this one out! I’m a huge fan of lip color, and I also have really chapped lips pretty much all the time.
This product gave my lips moisture as well as a beautiful rosy color! My EOS now has tough competition.
The only product clearly visible in the “After” photo is the lip chubby, but I can attest that I felt the effect of the moisturizer even though it’s not visible. Overall, these products, along with Beyond Perfecting, are definitely worth trying out if not investing in! Huge thanks to both Morgan Timm and Maggie Flaishans for letting me partake in this event! Clinique is an amazing company and I have no doubt that they will continue to put out revolutionary products.
