Stationery Sanctuary

Hey, everyone! Back to school is just around the corner, and I like to stay ready and positive for the upcoming year with a fresh batch of school supplies. I’ve had an extensive stationery collection for as long as I can remember; and August is THE MONTH to buy office supplies because of all the back to school sales. Here are my top picks for pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, etc. These products are stylish, practical, and trustworthy. I hope you all like them!

1. Pens

As a lefty, one of my greatest regrets in life is that I will never be able to enjoy expensive, inky pens due to the fact that I will inevitably smudge all of the fancy ink across the page (I didn’t choose the lefty life, the lefty life chose me).  I tend to stick to the cheap Bic pens, but a couple of years back I actually googled “best pens for lefties” (I’m a dork, I know) and these pens were unanimously praised by lefties and righties alike.  They’re a little bit pricer than the cheapo pens I was used to, but they write SO WELL and my pencil case definitely a deserved a nice upgrade.

2. Pencils

I actually despise mechanical pencils.  I put a lot of pressure on my pencils when I write, so the graphite sticks inside the mechanical pencils break about every 5 words.  And the fact that you have to buy graphite refills? Count me out. Call me a hater, call me old fashioned, but nothing beats a set of brand new Ticonderogas.  My personal favorite are the black Ticonderogas; they’re sleek and stylish, but if you really want to go full-on throwback there’s always the classic yellow ones you may have used as a kid.

3. Notebooks

Nothing makes a statement more than your notebooks.  These are the things you pull out of your bag EVERY single class, so why not make them reflect who you are? I’m always drawn to notebooks with pizzazz.  I love the Killing It design, and in the past I’ve had both glitter notebooks and holographic notebooks which were way cool.

4. Planner

Day planners and agendas for the upcoming year also come out in August.  The Kate Spade ones are a popular choice, but I’m in love with this Hello Kitty one.  In years past, I’ve gotten plain planners and just stickered them, which I’ll discuss later when I talk about folders below.

5. Post-its

Post-its have become increasingly necessary in my life- they’re so versatile! I use them to mark pages in the books I read for class, to jot down notes about certain pages instead of trying to squeeze notes in the margins, and to leave messages for my roommates when I’m not home.  I’ve been recently bingewatching The Office on Netflix, so I’ll be getting my hands on a pack of Dunder Mifflin post-its this school year.

6. Folders

When it comes to folders, I’m a fan of plastic over paper.  Plastic folders are so much more durable.  The only problem is, plastic folders tend to only come in plain colors rather than fun designs. To solve this problem, I usually decorate mine with stickers! It’s so much fun to customize folders as well as the outsides of binders. Emoji stickers are definitely a safe bet for a rad looking set of folders that no one else will have!

Love these picks? What are your back to school must haves? Let me know in the comments section!

  1. UNIBALL, YES. I just got some Uniball pens the other day and I am so so so happy. I never thought I could love a pen this much? Anyway, since it’s on your list, I trust that your other recommendations are top-notch as well. Thanks for sharing such an informative list!
