NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme Review

Hey, everyone! I’m back with another beauty review (you guys seem to really like these so I’ll be doing a review on highlighters next!). This time around,  I tried out four shades of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme because I’ve heard so many good things! They’re fairly inexpensive, but can be hard to find in stores since not every drugstore carries the NYX brand (I found these at the CVS on 87th and Lex but they were the last ones on the shelf!).  I tried Transylvania, Copenhagen, Prague, and Addis Ababa.

Transylvania was kinda dried up, maybe because it was the last one left? It was hard to get a good consistency on my arm and my lips. I had to do a bajillion coats to get the right color.  Not good.

For the other three, the consistency was much better, so I probably just picked up a bad Transylvania 🙁

The application is not great.  The brush is like one of those brushes that comes with little kid makeup.  This was hard to apply; definitely not beginner friendly.

Transylvania is BOMB AF.  I felt like Lorde which was awesome.  I also visited a Pinkberry the day I wore it and the Pinkberry cashier asked about the color since it looked so fiiiine. Amazing.

Copenhagen is similar to More Better which I reviewed a few weeks ago but it’s more of a red-based berry than a purple or pink which is what I’ve been looking for!!!

I also LOVE Prague.  This is my ideal pink shade.

I honestly didn’t think that Addis Ababa was going to look good on me but it’s not bad! It’s definitely my least favorite in the bunch, but it’s not the worst shade in the world.

While this didn’t dry out my lips which was great, I had to reapply Transylvania SO MANY TIMES. The pigment cracked but the skin on my lips did not, but still. Addis Ababa (pictured above) and Prague (not pictured) also didn’t hold up very well. This is not long lasting whatsoever and is very high maintenance. Poor.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I still have yet to find a lip stain that’s long lasting, doesn’t dry out my lips, and is the perfect shade.  These only excelled in the color and non-drying aspects. Have you found a lip stain that meets the above criteria? Let me know about it by leaving a comment (I want to know so I can try it!). Stay tuned for more beauty reviews coming soon (the highlighter one should be out next week eeeep!).

I need to get another one since the one I got was so dried up – the color is so vampy and glam it’s the best
