Hey everyone! I’m pretty much always on the hunt for makeup that’s high quality and low priced. As you may know from my previous NYX review, I was disappointed in the Soft Matte Lip Cremes that everyone raves about, but I decided to give the brand a second chance. I bought a variety of different products and here is my honest review of how each performed; I️ was pleasantly surprised by these!
This review features an eyeliner, a matte lipstick, two eyeshadow sticks, and a highlighter stick.
From top to bottom: highlighter, lipstick, eyeliner, eye crayons.
I’ve always loved colorful makeup and I rarely see anyone rocking red on their lids. I decided to remedy my lack of red eyeliner with the Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Vivid Fire. This liner looked great as both a standalone statement and on top of my regular black liner.
The brush is extremely fine on this eyeliner. This is perfect if you’re doing detailed/accent work. I didn’t mind the thin brush, it just made application take a little longer. I also had to go over my lines a few times to achieve the desired level of pigmentation.
As mentioned above, the thin brush doesn’t allow you to achieve the desired pigmentation with one stroke. Once you go over your lines a few times, however, you’re golden. They call it Vivid Brights for a reason! This eyeliner is highly noticeable and really pops on the lids.
This liner stayed put all day! No issues there.
I did not have high expectations for this product going in. Matte lip products, in general, can be really tricky. With the price point and my previous experience with NYX lip stuff, I was even more skeptical. I was definitely the most surprised with how this performed!
Application wasn’t so hot on this one. The lipstick is kind of thick and chalky. It also came out kind of patchy when I was putting it on. I really had to pack it on in order to get full coverage.
The color is great- it just takes a while for it to show. This is the same problem I had with the eyeliner.
YOOOOO guys. This lip color STAYED PUT! To really test it, I ate a whole 10 piece Chicken McNuggets at McDonald’s and this lip color did not budge. I’ve bought way more expensive products that come off with the first bite of a meal. This is totally worth it for the staying power alone.
I’m a huge fan of eyeshadow sticks, as you guys know from my review earlier this year. Naturally, I had to see if these were any good.
Application is a breeze. These are so lightweight and creamy! I had no trouble at all applying these to my lids.
Gorgeous pigmentation for both colors! I literally ooo’d and ahhh’d out loud when I put Yogurt on for the first time 😹
These stayed on all day (I wore primer, but yeah). These are totally comparable to Nudestix in quality for only a fraction of the price!
I actually didn’t intend on purchasing this product. I received it as a freebie when I went to the NYX Store in Union Square. Needless to say, I love highlighters so I was stoked to add this to the review at no extra cost.
I stan stick products so hard because of the easy application! One swipe is all you need.
Prior to blending, this highlighter is BLINDING. Once blended, it’s a gorgeous pink-purpley shade. It’s not too unicorn-y but also a bit removed from the more natural shades. I love it!
Honestly, idk how long this lasts. I’m assuming it lasts at least a few hours?!? I don’t think it lasts all day, but definitely perfect for a night out on the town.
Whew! That was a long and in-depth review. I hope you guys enjoyed it and stayed with me until the end. The best product I tried is definitely the eyeshadow sticks. Both the highlighter and lipstick are fantastic budget options; the quality is at least comparable if not better than more expensive brands. The liner is just fun and out there and it doesn’t fade or smudge either! Stay tuned for more beauty reviews this winter (there’s going to be another one next week, mark your calendars).
