Home » My Lip Gloss Collection: 4 Formulas Ranked from Worst to Best
Hey, everyone! One beauty product that’s been really growing on me lately is lip gloss. Although I love how pigmented lipstick can be, if you’re someone who loves to eat/is eating constantly (me), it’s not the most practical beauty item. Let’s be real, lipstick does NOT look cute after you’ve eaten a sandwich 90% of the time. Lip gloss, however, is a good solution for those who want a more low-maintenance lip look. It looks great and if it comes off after you’ve scarfed down a pita, it’s really NBD.

That said, my lip gloss collection at the moment is quite small compared to that of my eyeshadow. Small, but mighty- and each one is from a different brand, no less! I break down my reasons for why each lip gloss rocks and/or sucks in true Emily fashion.
Oh, Glossier. Everyone loves you, but I really don’t love you. Glossier claims this product is not sticky or gluey, but I beg to differ. This lip gloss is very heavy and feels super goopy once applied. It also lasts a total of 0.10 seconds before coming off (ok, I’m exaggerating, but take 1 sip of water and this baby’s toast). Looks pretty for a few Photobooth selfies, but if you’re looking for something lightweight and long-lasting that won’t attract your hair, this is not it.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in Uh Huh Honey and Sweet Escape
I recently received these two beauties in the mail courtesy of Influenster. While I was impressed with their application, pigmentation, and hydrating properties, they were no match for my BLT sandwich. I literally ate a sandwich on camera to test the staying power of both of these colors in my latest YouTube video. See for yourself!
Mary Kay, how random, right?!? I know this brand isn’t super popular amongst us millennials, but I received this lip gloss in a goodie bag a while back and I’m a fan. It has mixed reviews on Amazon, but I love that it has a touch of gold glitter, softens your lips, and isn’t too heavy. The color is also not too far off from that of the next gloss on this list.
There’s a reason this lip gloss has a near-perfect rating. The color is specifically designed to be universally flattering (it’s so gorgeous, guys), it’s NOT sticky, and it lasts 5ever. Sure, it doesn’t have the hydrating properties of the Mary Kay or Marc Jacobs, but that doesn’t mean your lips are going to be super dry or anything. Rihanna said she made this gloss so that girls would get kissed more, and if that isn’t enough of a selling point, idk what is.
