Hey, everyone! Fall is coming up in just a few weeks, so say goodbye to flip flop and sandal season and hello to fall footwear! Nothing says fall like a cozy sweatshirt, cuffed jeans, and a good pair of boots (or sneakers or flats, in this case)! Here is a curated list of some of the best footwear options for the upcoming season.  The best part is that all of the shoes in this post are both affordable and on trend!

1. Tweed high tops

Tweed is totally having a moment right now, and I’m obsessed with these tweed high tops from Target! They’ll give an instant fall touch to any outfit. If tweed’s not your thing, check out these equally cool quilted sneakers.

2. Wool slip-ons

Vans are the quintessential slip-on shoe, and these wool ones are absolutely perfect for fall. The slate gray color is light enough that it highlights the wooly texture, but dark enough to match a fall color palette.

3. Adidas

Sportswear is everywhere these days. These high tops from Adidas are perfect for an off-duty look.  The black and white color scheme will also match nearly anything! I’m also guilty of eyeing these glittery Adidas shoes as a flashier option.

1.  Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens are the ultimate cult-classic shoe. There’s a reason my Docs have been featured in countless posts! Some may say that Docs are a year-round footwear choice, but I think they’re a little too heavy and warm to wear on the hottest of summer days.  Therefore, fall is the perfect time to rock your summery dresses with a leather or jean jacket and a pair of black Dr. Martens for a timeless look.

2. Lace-up booties

For all my wide-footed girls out there, this one’s for you (I was blessed with the opposite problem, however, so I’d never be able to wear these cute booties).  These boots scream fall more so than Docs, and are a good lace-up option if you don’t want to go with the full-on military boot. These boots would look so perfect with denim! If you have narrow feet like me, try these heeled lace-up boots from Forever 21. Pro tip: Forever 21 fits narrow-footed people quite well!

3. Crocodile boots

Crocodile is right up there with tweed in terms of what’s trending. These crocodile Chelsea boots will help you rock this trend at a reasonable price.  These boots are also easy to dress up or down!

1. Oxfords

When I’m not wearing my Docs, there’s a 95% chance I’m wearing my oxfords instead. If you don’t own a pair, I strongly suggest investing in them. I’m telling you, I live in my oxfords nearly every day.  They match every outfit, whether I have to dress casual or for work. They’re comfortable and they’ll never go out of style.

2. Ballet flats

Ballet flats are definitely a shoe staple. I love the added ankle strap on these flats along with the pointed toe. The ankle strap provides extra support, again, for the narrow-footed people of the world, like me! Another pro tip: to rock flats without worrying that they will fall off when you walk, I strongly suggest investing in a pair of stretchy flats.  These stretchy flats from Cole Haan are pricier, but they’re a favorite of many for a reason: they stay on!

3. Loafers

These fringe loafers are both adorable and sophisticated. The patent leather will add extra shine to any look! The black ones are pictured here, but these also come in nude which is another great shade to have.

Hey, everyone! Since I’m now working 35 hours a week, I’ll admit it’s been tough to set aside time for photoshoots and things.  Today, I’m trying something new: I created 3 outfit sets on Polyvore and put them in this post to share my outfit ideas with you all! I haven’t used Polyvore in over a year and unfortunately, these sets are not quite up to my personal standards, so please bear with me.  I’d definitely like to continue the Style Guide series on here, so you might see more posts with Polyvore sets in the future! In the meantime, I hope you all have a sun-and-fun-filled Fourth of July.  To make things even better, this post also doubles as inspo for Memorial Day weekend.

This first look uses two standard wardrobe items: a plain white t-shirt and denim shorts.  If you own both of those things, you’re well on your way to having a great outfit for the Fourth! I added red shoes here, but you can add red lipstick, red nail polish, or red jewelry to finish off this look.

This is the most summer-y look out of the three.  If you have a LWD (little white dress), you can pair it with your favorite pair of sandals for a classic look.  If you have a red or blue bandana or headscarf, throw it on for an instant patriotic touch! This is a great look for a nicer dinner or barbecue.

Finally, if you have a navy skirt in your closet, try pairing it with a red crop top and white shoes.  I picked a skater skirt, a mock-neck top, and white jellies for a more 90s vibe, but you can pull this off with any type of top, skirt, or shoe!  I personally think platforms or white sneakers would make excellent substitutes for jellies.

Thanks for bearing with my not-yet-perfected Polyvore skills! These are all outfits that I would have loved to have styled in real life, and I can only hope that you all will carry on with that task this Fourth of July.  If you have any tips for using Polyvore more effectively, or thoughts on these looks, PLEASE leave comments below!
